How to keep fit whilst travelling – Top Tips from a Castle Gym Personal Trainer

I have worked as a Personal Trainer for 5 years now at Castle Gym Nottingham, and I have had the same question crop up time and time again:

‘I’m going on holiday and I’m worried about how I’m going to keep hitting my goals.’

I am here to help you and give you the best advice you need to put your mind at rest when you are planning for your next trip.

It can be difficult to know exactly how to keep fit whilst travelling. You have a burden in your head telling you that you’re ruining your progress by not sticking to your routine but I have some tips for you!

The truth is, life is all about balance! You can still have fun on your holiday whilst staying fit and healthy. Here’s how…

It can be so tempting to want to drink alcohol and party whilst travelling. Try switching out alcohol for low-calorie fizzy drinks or water as much as you can.

Drinking and enjoying yourself is absolutely fine but in moderation. Keep your mind on the end goal, and where you want to be.

Throughout the day when you’re sightseeing or relaxing in a hotel, it can be so difficult to remember but we’re here to remind you, stay hydrated! Staying hydrated is so important in your fitness journey.

Water regulates your body temperature, lubricates your joints and muscles, prevents infections, delivers nutrients to cells, all whilst helping to improve sleep quality and mood.

Where you can, try to buy groceries and cook in your hotel where possible instead of eating out. If you absolutely have to eat out because you don’t have access to cooking appliances, try and research restaurants that sell clean, high-protein food.

If you’re in a big city, the chances are there are probably some restaurants that sell healthy, clean food for local gym-goers.

Assuming you don’t have access to your local gym nearby, there are a few ways in which you can still stay active and reach your goals for burning those calories.

A few ways include:

  • Finding a hotel to stay at which has a gym.
  • Carrying a skipping rope with you for easy, quick cardio wherever you are.
  • Walking from place to place instead of taking public transport everywhere.

Walking also gives you the option to see many more sights in the area which you are staying.

If you feel like you are not able to keep on track of your goals yourself, or if you are struggling with how to make a plan that works for you then I would really recommend getting in touch with a personal trainer

Here at dumbbell bench press set, we have a range of trainers with different payment plans and options who are more than happy to help you out! Feel free to get in touch for more information.
