Bad Habits That Can Make Anxiety Worse

How often do you feel nervous, panicked, or fearful? If sometimes, then it is normal. Experiencing those emotions occasionally is a normal part of life. However, if it becomes frequent, then it might be a cause for concern. All these negative emotions are an indication of anxiety disorders. Individuals who suffer from anxiety frequently have intense, excessive, and persistent worry and fear about normal day-to-day situations. They may experience repeated episodes of panic attacks every so often as well as sweating and increased heart rate. Usually, you may feel anxious or nervous while tackling a problem at work, taking a test, attending an interview, and things of that sort. Let us have a look at some common habits that may be adding to your anxiety and altering them might improve your mental health to a huge extent.

The Social Media Dilemma

If you are caught up with the things like, “How many likes did I get on that picture? How many followers do I have on social media platforms?” So on and so forth, then you are more likely to experience mental health issues at some point in your life. Social media has a reinforcing nature as it stimulates the brain’s reward center by triggering the release of feel-good chemicals known as dopamine that are strongly linked to pleasurable activities such as food, sex, and social interaction. These platforms are specifically designed for making us addicted and obsessive. Social media openly encourages competition among its users which leads to unnecessary comparisons. Comparison is associated with anxiety, depression, envy, and things along those lines. But it is up to us whether we take it constructively or otherwise. Some of us cannot live without social media, but the least we can do is limit its usage. It will mitigate anxiety and improve related mental health concerns.

Little To No Exercising

Our lifestyle demands us to be sedentary for longer hours at a stretch. It can make you feel more anxious. It is necessary to realize that exercising regularly helps combat health conditions and diseases. Along with maintaining physiological health, physical exercises also ensure better psychological health. It prevents weight gain or helps maintain weight loss. When you engage in physical activity, you burn calories. The more intense the activity, the more calories you burn. It is also beneficial in improving mood, promoting better sleep, and boosting stamina. Mild to vigorous aerobic activity 30 minutes a day can have wondrous effects on your physical as well as mental health. It will certainly alleviate the symptoms of anxiety and other mental health conditions.

Drinking Too Much Caffeine

Most of us begin our day with a cup of coffee or tea without even knowing that it can contribute to elevating our anxiety as we go by the day. According to some studies, people diagnosed with anxiety can end up worsening their day by excessive caffeine intake. Caffeine causes your heartbeat to rise unusually which can develop into panic attacks.

Consuming Junk and Processed Food

Junk and processed foods are usually loaded with excessive amounts of sugar and unhealthy fats and lack nutritional value. It can be enjoyed occasionally but consuming it regularly puts you at risk of causing health conditions such as obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, etc. which affects mental health to a great extent and gives rise to psychological factors like anxiety, stress, depression, and so on. Health conditions give rise to sexual problems such as erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, low sex drive, etc. which aggravates anxiety even more. However, high-impact ED medicines like Filitra contain active ingredients of Vardenafil. It can efficiently treat problems of erectile dysfunction and restore erection function during arousal. Therefore, making changes to your diet may make it easier for you to keep your overall health in optimal condition. A nutritious diet can help deliver essential nutrients to all parts of your body. You must include Legumes, such as peas, beans, lentils, nuts, fish, eggs, whole grains, fruits, plenty of leafy green vegetables, meat, and poultry in your diet.
